Discovering Jewish Country Houses: Photographs by Hélène Binet

Wed – Sun, 26 Mar – 22 Jun

11am – 4pm

Waddesdon Manor

Waddesdon,

Aylesbury,

HP18 0JH

Our exhibition for 2025 showcases a new body of work by one of the world’s leading photographers, Hélène Binet, capturing an extraordinary group of Jewish country houses.

The display of more than 20 works takes as its inspiration the new book Jewish Country Houses (edited by Juliet Carey and Abigail Green, Profile Books, 2024), which sheds new light on a previously overlooked category of country houses owned, renovated, and at times built by Jews and individuals of Jewish descent.

A Simple Idea That Can Guide Your Photography…

Several of my favourite photo books and projects from other photographers all share one common thread: they’re structured around following a clear line or path. And the more I think about it, the more I realise how impactful this simple approach can be when it comes to finding focus and direction.

In this video, I’ll dive into this approach, showcasing examples highlighting why it’s such an effective method for finding direction in your photography and how it provides focus while offering endless creative possibilities and room for flexibility.
