OXFORD PHOTO SOCIETY ANNUAL EXHIBITION
Monday 15 October – Friday 2 November – Mathematics Institute
We are pleased to say we have managed to secure exhibition space for the club’s annual exhibition in the wonderful café area at the Mathematics Institute (MI) on Woodstock Road. I realise it is only 6 months since the last exhibition at the North Wall, but it was the only time they had available and we think the space will work really well for our members. The exhibition space has a much larger footfall than last year, it is easier to get to from the town centre plus the café is open to the public from 8:30 – 16:15 Monday to Friday and serves excellent coffee and food at very reasonable prices.
Please note, picture submissions will be different from those of previous exhibitions; it will not be necessary for them to be mounted or framed.
The MI has large (A0) suspended plastic frames and your pictures, together with their information tags, will be mounted on black backing sheets measuring 100cm x 70cm and inserted into the frames for display. We will display two pictures per frame.
The consistency of mounting in the last exhibition made it look really professional and we would like to maintain that standard whilst giving you scope for artistic licence.
Bearing in mind pictures will be mounted on a black background; could you submit your work printed on an A3 Sheet (42 x 29.7cm), portrait or landscape, with a 0.5cm white border on at least two sides i.e.:
- A full landscape or portrait picture would have 0.5cm boarder on all sides
- A letterbox picture would have a larger white border above and below, but 0.5cm on the left and right-hand sides
- A square picture would have the 0.5cm border at either the top and bottom or left or right depending on whether you want the picture displayed portrait or landscape
Please submit an information tag for each of your pictures in the following format:
Font: Comic Sans MS
Text: Normal, max 50 words
EIGHT WEEKS – Sandra Devaney
Eights week is a part of Oxford University’s sports calendar when
Colleges compete against each other in rowing races. One of
The challenges for a photographer is to try to capture images
That show both the fun and the pain expressed by competitors
Due to the timing of this exhibition, we would ask you to reply to this email by July 31st stating your intention to participate and the number of prints you intend to submit (2 maximum).
Prints and information tags will be collected at any of the September meetings. The deadline will be September 25th. You must be a fully paid up member to participate.
Many thanks, enjoy your holidays and good shooting!
