Members of Oxford Photographic Society (OPS) were overjoyed to win the prestigious inter-club ‘Rosebowl’ competition of the Chiltern Association of Camera Clubs (CACC) at the Amersham Community Centre on Sunday 22 April 2018.
Peter Warrington, External Competition Secretary of the Oxford Photographic Society said: “The event was an exciting one, and as the images were projected it was impossible to call until the scores appeared on screen with Oxford topping the list!”
The CACC is an association of around forty camera clubs covering the Chilterns, Thames Valley and parts of West London and Berkshire. The CACC Rosebowl is an inter-club projected digital image competition consisting of a series of club fixtures which run from November to February followed by a Spring finale.
Twelve camera clubs from the region made it to the final and battled it out with eight images per club put forward for judging. OPS topped the table with 150 points narrowly beating Leighton Buzzard CC and Maidenhead CC who both received 149 points. A terrific collection of photography was on display giving a difficult task to judge Mr Gerald Kitiyakara LRPS.
Special mention goes to three of the OPS photographers Dave Atkinson, Nigel Finch and Dave Belcher who all scored a maximum 20 points each.
Mr Warrington said: “It was a great day out much enhanced by a celebratory pint on the way home and with the new silverware on board.”
